ACCESSIBLE HOME FOR YOUR PETS
There are a few things you can do to make your home more accessible for your pet. Let’s face it, we treat our pets like they’re our children!
Pet-Accessible Home Tips
Cat/dog doors
- Installing pet doors can help your pet move around the house or get to the yard or litter box to use the bathroom if you aren’t home
Steps next to the bed
- If you like your pet to sleep with you, then having steps next to the bed makes getting up and down easier. Stairs are also helpful if you have an older or overweight dog that can’t jump very well.
Bigger water bowl during summer
- Pets drink a ton of water, especially when it’s hot out. Having a bigger bowl with extra water will help keep them hydrated. Plus you don’t have to fill it up as often.
Hide your garbage bins or have lids
- We all know some dogs love to dig through the trash. It’s important to keep a lid on them or out of site so they don’t eat something they shouldn’t like a chicken bone, or some sort of cleaner that was thrown out.
Keep toilet lids down
- This is a common stereotype with dogs, drinking out of the toilet. But you should do your best to prevent it. Keeping the lid down helps prevent a drowning hazard, or a pet digesting a cleaner that you use in a toilet.
